New School Year, New Skills: Get Certified with Destiny Pathways
Jul 24, 2025
Ahead of fall, Follett Academy has introduced two structured certification pathways designed to help K-12 library and tech professionals get more from the Follett Destiny® Educator Platform, whether you’re new to the software or just looking to strengthen your skills.
Follett Academy is the free, online learning hub where educators can build product knowledge at their own pace or through live sessions. And now, with the launch of Destiny Pathways, there’s a straightforward way to earn official certification in the tools educators rely on daily: Destiny Library Manager and Destiny Resource Manager.
Here’s what you need to know about Destiny Pathways.
Destiny Pathways are three-part certification tracks built around hands-on learning, real-time support, and real outcomes. Participants move through core tasks, gaining confidence as they go. The pathways are designed for professionals managing either school libraries or district resources like textbooks and devices.
You can take courses live with a Follett trainer or go at your own speed with the self-paced option. Either way, you’ll earn digital badges for each completed course and receive a full certification after finishing the pathway.
The Destiny Library Manager Certification pathway supports new and developing librarians with practical, hands-on learning.
The Library Manager Certification: Fundamentals pathway is ideal for librarians who are new to Destiny or looking to reinforce their day-to-day workflows. Over three sessions, you’ll:
- Get familiar with navigation and circulation tools
- Learn how to customize library settings for your site
- Explore cataloging best practices that help keep collections organized and accessible
Each course includes optional office hours with Follett trainers and access to recordings for 90 days, so you can review your schedule.
🗓️ First session starts August 13.
💬 Includes Navigation & Circulation, Reports, and Cataloging Fundamentals
Earn your Destiny Resource Manager Certification, designed for tech and asset leaders.
The Resource Manager Certification: Fundamentals track is built for those who manage technological devices, textbooks, or other school resources. Whether you’re in IT, operations, or instructional support, this pathway will help you:
- Distribute resources efficiently to patrons, locations, or departments
- Set up policies and permissions tailored to your site’s needs
- Understand the essential reports that support inventory visibility and accountability
🗓️ First session starts August 20.
💬 Covers Navigation, Policies & Settings, and Cataloging
Flexible options are available, both live and self-paced.
Can’t make a live session? Starting mid-fall 2025, Destiny Pathways will also be available as self-paced, online courses. These follow the same structure and end with the same certification, just on your timeline.
- Live bundles (three courses): $350 | Single course: $150
- Self-paced bundles: $199 | Single course: $110
- Certification assessments, knowledge checks, and 90-day access to materials included
Intermediate and advanced certification levels are coming soon.
If you’re ready for more, additional pathways are on the horizon. Intermediate-level certifications launch in January 2026, followed by advanced courses and role-based certifications later in the year, including Certified Destiny Administrator and Certified Destiny District User.
