Meet the Team
Chris Porter
Chief Executive Officer
Chris is a seasoned education technology leader with more than 20 years of experience helping school districts simplify operations, improve decision-making, and get more value from their technology investments. He has served as CEO of Follett Software since 2022, guiding the company’s focus on delivering integrated, reliable solutions that support educators and administrators.
As the son of an educator, Chris brings a personal understanding of the realities schools face. Prior to Follett Software, he served as CEO of Apex Learning, leading the company through significant growth, and previously held executive roles at PowerSchool, Pearson, and Apple—helping shape technology used by K–12 districts nationwide.

Kevin Gacek
Chief Finance Officer
Kevin brings more than 20 years of experience supporting K–12 education and has served as CFO of Follett Software since 2009. During his tenure, he has helped guide the company through sustained, profitable growth while ensuring investments are aligned to long-term customer value.
As an externally focused CFO, Kevin prioritizes responsible resource allocation that supports customer satisfaction, product quality, and a strong foundation for school district partnerships. Earlier in his career, he held roles at Monsanto and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Monica Morrell
Chief Customer Officer
Monica is a customer-focused executive dedicated to helping school districts realize measurable value from their technology investments. She leads high-performing Customer Success, Customer Support and Professional Services teams that support districts across the full customer journey—from implementation through long-term adoption and outcomes.
Monica brings more than a decade of education technology leadership experience, including senior roles at Hobsons, where she served as General Manager of Naviance and SVP of Customer Experience, and most recently as VP of Customer Success at PowerSchool. Her leadership strengthens operational excellence, cross-functional alignment, and Follett Software’s commitment to delivering a consistent, high-impact customer experience.
Shane Foster
Chief Product and Technology Officer
Shane leads product and engineering with a focus on building technology that works the way school districts need it to. He brings deep experience translating educator and administrator needs into reliable, scalable products that integrate smoothly into district environments.
Before joining Follett Software, Shane served as Chief Product and Technology Officer at Certica Solutions, which was later acquired by Instructure. His leadership ensures Follett Software delivers practical innovation—products that are secure, interoperable, and designed to support real-world district workflows.
Amanda Shea
Chief Marketing Officer
Amanda Shea is a marketing leader focused on helping school districts get more value from the tools they rely on every day. She brings a data-driven approach to connecting strategy, systems, and storytelling so customers experience clarity, consistency, and impact.
Prior to Follett Software, Amanda served as SVP of Marketing at Infobase, where she led growth across K–12, higher education, and library markets. She is passionate about education and committed to building brands that make it easier for educators to do their best work.
Bill Slackman
Senior Vice President of Sales
Bill leads Follett Software’s sales organization with a focus on helping school districts find the right solutions for their needs and achieve long-term value. He brings more than 25 years of executive sales leadership experience driving growth through strong partnerships, clear strategy, and customer understanding.
Most recently, Bill served as Vice President of Sales at Frontline Education and previously held leadership roles including Vice President, North America at SunGard. His leadership helps ensure Follett Software’s sales approach is consultative, consistent, and aligned to district priorities.
Samantha Nahra
Senior Vice President, People and General Counsel
Sam leads Follett Software’s legal and people teams with a focus on building a strong, ethical, and accountable organization. Her work helps ensure the company operates with integrity while creating an environment where teams can do their best work in service of customers.
Sam brings broad experience across legal and human resources leadership, including roles at Hertz, Oneida Group, and Abercrombie & Fitch, and most recently served as General Counsel and VP of Human Resources at Seamless.AI. Her leadership supports Follett Software’s commitment to trust, compliance, and effective team leadership.
Natalie Screen
Accessit GM and New Zealand Country Manager
Natalie leads Follett Software’s international strategy for the Accessit product, guiding go-to-market execution and customer growth across global markets. As Country Manager for New Zealand, she ensures Accessit delivers strong adoption, engagement, and long-term value for schools worldwide.
Natalie brings deep experience leading global teams across customer experience, sales, product, and marketing. Previously, she held executive roles at Xero, where she helped scale the business from 100,000 to more than four million subscribers. Her leadership strengthens Follett Software’s international go-to-market strategy and customer-first approach.
